Global UGRAD Program Application | Undergraduate Scholarship to the US

The application period for the Global UGRAD Program 2018-2019 cycle is now open!!

Application period: 1 November 2017 - 31 December 2017

This was the scholarship I was under for my exchange program - half a year in Washington, USA earlier this year! It was the best time of my life, and I miss each moment of it every single day till this very day...and perhaps for my entire lifetime. No jokes.

Man, do I wish I could reapply and go for it again. But then...equal opportunities, right?

The Global Undergraduate Exchange Program (Global UGRAD) is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. It's a fully-funded scholarship for one semester of non-degree academic study at an assigned U.S. college or university (which you don't get to choose).

Head over to the website for the full details and eligibility criteria.
FY2017-2018 Global UGRAD Exchange Program

This program usually deals with the U.S. Embassies of each countries (so check out the website of the U.S. Embassy in your country), however, Malaysia's program is handled by the Malaysian-American Commissioner on Educational Exchange (MACEE) who works closely with our local U.S. Embassy.

Application is a bit tedious (as most, if not all scholarship applications are), so it is not for the lazies or the weak-hearted!

It's an awesome opportunity as this scholarship really covers every single thing!...Literally. All. Costs. From the TOEFL test (if you don't have it upon being selected), flight tickets, visa, tuition fees, room and board, books...and get this - even a monthly allowance! Say whuuuut!

Of course, if you want to travel within the U.S., do activities, or shop - that's your own money, unless you can spend within the allowance they provide.

I've written about my exchange program experience here on my blog, so check them out under this category: NayUSA.

Just to entice you a little, here's barely a gist of what I did during my time in the U.S.!

It really was an experience of a lifetime. One that I wouldn't trade for anything, one that I'm forever grateful for.

I'm thinking of writing about the application process, but it's pretty straightforward and spoon-feeding ain't a good thing, right?

With that said, if you have any questions regarding the program, ask away in the comment box of this post!

All the best!

  1. Interesting article! Did you manage to do your internship related to your field of study in the US during the exchange programme?
