Fifty Shades Darker is the second part to the Fifty Shades trilogy, and here I am, taking some time off at 10.47pm to write a short summary-review kinda thing, in the midst of my STPM trials. (Mostly cz I feel like it, not so much the obligation)
So this book starts with the continuation from the first book, Fifty Shades of Grey, where Anastasia Steele left Christian Grey after a night of six real hard spanking. She felt like she couldn't give him what he needs, hence, she turned her heels and head for the door.
After several days of no-Christian, he finally contacted her by sending her flowers to congratulate her on her first day of work and he quickly took the opportunity to meet her again, so happened the coming Thursday was her friend, José's opening showcase of his photographs, which they were both supposed to go together. He offered her a lift. She accepted.
Long story short, they reconciled. *sighhh* :)
Also in this book, we'll know why Christian is so dark and guarded...and sadistic(his words). Basically, he doesn't let Ana or anyone else, other than the yucky cougar, Mrs. Robinson to touch him because his stepdad used to abuse him when he was really young, while his mum just looked and not able to defend him(I bet she didn't even try cz she's a crack whore.lol). As for why his subs all look similar, mostly dark haired, is because they all looked like his biological mum. So in a way, hurting them to him is like getting back at his mum, which gives him pleasure. It's also why Ana caught his eye the first time they met.
However, for the sake of keeping his relationship for Ana, he's willing to give up the BDSM sexual lifestyle. He was willing to give her hearts and flowers!!
One of the major problem, also a lot of suspense part, was Leila, one of Christian's ex-sub, who is mentally unstable and is hunting Christian and Ana down. The scary thing is, she knows Christian's apartment, Escala, like the back of her hand! So everything in and out of Escala, how many rooms, where the emergency staircases are, best places to hide..she knew it all. (Read more to feel the suspense, plus with the crazy extra body guards Christian hired.lol)
Other than that, Ana faces problem or should I say trouble?...at her work place, SIP. It's more with her boss, Jack Hyde. He's this damn cheeky, dirty and cuckoo boss of hers. Always finding ways to be alone with her. Christian, being the super protective and rich boyfriend, bought over the company, so he knew Jack's background and history of all his assistants which never lasts more than 3 months. He warns Ana to beware of Jack, but obviously she brushed it off.
One fine day, Ana was left alone with Jack, which was in a bad mood the entire day. Mainly because he was supposed to attend a conference in New York with Ana, but Christian did some management protocol thing so she couldn't go(smart move, I'd say! XD). Jack tried to take advantage of Ana that evening but got his balls kicked and finger twisted by her(her stepdad, Ray, was an army). Taylor, Christian's guy(bodyguard, driver, clothes shopper...everything!) bashed Jack up and Christian got him fired! On. The. Spot. No more NY for Jack!
The best part!! Christian proposed! In a very unromantic way, nothing special, really. But was still awwwwwwww-worthy. haha! Ana needed time to think because it's a huge step for her. The night before Christian's birthday, he went "missing". His helicopter, Charlie Tango was missing from the radar. Apparently, the tail caught fire and they(Christian and his colleague?) were flying too low for landing, but thank God he's not the rich-but-dumb kind. He loves flying the helicopter and knows how to handle it well, so he managed to land it safely. His battery went flat and both of them had to hitch a ride back to Seattle from Portland.
He was surprised to find his entire family awaiting his return at Escala, didn't think anyone would be so worried about him. Obviously, Ana was crying like crazy lah. Everything was okay and when it struck midnight, he took out his birthday gift from Ana(which she handed to him a few days back before discussing with Dr. Flynn about Christian), which was a touristy keychain of Seattle's skyline. What's so touching and special about that? He turned it and the word 'YES' blinks back at him. She freaking agreed to marry him!!! He was so damn touched and happy because she not only agreed on marrying him, but it was that she'd decided to marry him even before discussing his problems with Dr. Flynn :')
This book ended with the announcement of their engagement at his parents, Carrick and Grace's house. Also during then was Mrs. Robinson fired at by Ana, splashing Carrick's best cocktail on her face for repetitively saying Ana wasn't good enough for Christian as she was unable to fulfil his needs. Basically, she wants Christian all to herself la. Damn disgusting, I'm telling you. I got goosebumps reading what she said. Yikes! I love when Grace overheard the yelling conversation between Christian and Mrs. Robinson, which brought her to yelling at the cougar to shut up, slapped her hard on the face and told her to get out of her house(they're family friends, you see) and no doubt, Christian was interrogated by his mum and she was pissed off at him for having a sexual relationship with that woman.
Back to the helicopter, Christian is a person who takes safety very seriously. So, we wondered how could Charlie Tango catch fire? He was lucky he's alive because as I've said earlier, they were flying too low. Wanna know more about the accident? READ THE BOOK!!..(or just the ending of book two.haha)
Fine. I'll tell you. Jack Hyde planned it all. He's back with a vengeance.

I don't think I should write my likes and dislikes of this book(mainly cz I don't remember!haha!). See, I have quite a short memory..so if I don't write something down, I'll tend to forget after awhile. What more, I finished this book sometime last week, just didn't had the time to blog because of trials preparation.
It's definitely an equally good book, if not better than the first part. You just HAVE to read it! It's too continuous, you can't help but to read it all! Trust me, you want to! Even if you're not a BDSM fan, neither am I. The storyline is good- young lovers courting to suspense to cougar townnn!! hahaha well, I hope you get my point. So yes, read it and you'll never not want to read the next!.. and the next!
My guilty pleasure at the moment: Sneakily reading a few pages of Fifty Shades Freed when I'm not studying or online.heh
Ps: James Deen is rumoured to be considered for Christian Grey's role. Oh, hell no! He's not only a porn star, but an ugly one too. I know Christian is very sexual, but he doesn't ooze out this dirty-filthy-sex-maniac feeling. James Deen does. Oh, if only I had the veto power to decide on the roles *sighh* I'm so nervous for those fictional characters!
