LIMA 2011: Part 2

7th December
It's the second day of real job's responsibilities, also the last day I'll be assisting the Myanmar delegate to the booths he's supposed to visit.

Oh, I forgot to mention in the last post that on 6th, there was this complication with the delegates because my Chief of Navy wanted to tag along Charmaine's Chief of General Staff, which programme schedule was different. In the end, Char's followed my schedule. And when visiting the booths, exhibitors tend to greet the higher rank delegate, in this case Char's delegate, so I felt bad for my delegate..it was like he kena tersingkir.LOL But eventually, Char's AO and I went to introduce him to the exhibitors lah..haha

Another thing! When we were touring around the booths, Char's AO was so funny! He started to look around for booths which serves coffee and insisted we go there for a drink.LOL Good thing we managed to keep to the schedule, while having time to visit a few extra booths that weren't on the programme booklet.

Back to the 7th, they wanted to follow each other again, but the schedules were obviously different. The previous day they could jumble some up since it's just booths visit, but this day had more important stuffs like the Chief of Navy Courtesy Call. So, my delegate said he'll follow my schedule, which is his schedule lah.lol

Ended the day around 3-ish since they have some other programmes outside, at the Awana Porto Malai, where delegates have maritime programmes there(I think, I don't remember). So before they left, we took a couple of photos and Char's delegate gave her a souvenir!

It was a jade-ish bracelet

I didn't expect anything from my delegate since well, I didn't think he had to give me anything..I mean if he does, it's out of gratitude for me bring him around the hall. So I didn't give him the glare(LOL) when he looked so bengang when he saw his leader gave Char a gift.LOL

May I add that my AO came back the next day to pass me a jade-ish necklace from my delegate. I think he felt bad that he didn't give me anything.haha he's so nice:)

Group picture! My delegate is the one next to me in white, the AO is the one on the far right, while the far left one tagged along too, but till now I don't know who he is.LOL He's probably my delegate's colleague.

The gang!..minus the guy with the blazer

They were really nice people, not the strict-stern-arrogant people I thought they would be initially, since they are the army people.. My delegate was telling me about his family planning to get his son to further his studies in Malaysia after he's done with his medical studies. Oh, he did mention he has three sons too.LOL

Char and Joe was like "Maybe he's trying to match you up.." Hmm...I don't think so. I have mine already*swoon*

The white dude at the back is one of Char's crushes, Thag(pronounced Tog.haha). He's the LO for the whole Myanmar delegation.

After they all ran along to their next destination, hehehe it's time to rayau! Char and I went around the hall after work since we had to enjoy some freedom and not actually getting stuck at the Info Counter right after our duties are done, so...pictures time! and collecting souvenirs from booths time!haha

Found this awesome prop to camwhore at.heh (Photo credits to Charmaine)

at the EADS's booth helicopters! (Photo credits to Charmaine)

some flying object to demo how it flies the helicopter, I think

This is part of Hall C, near to the Organisers Office

This was one of the two army mannequin that scared me. I thought they were real! O.o

Funny how I felt some kind of connection to this booth even before I actually visited it. I saw it on the map and I was like *zzzzhhnggg*LOL

Was super excited to go up the helicopter through the backway!!!

We're flyinggggg! not. (Credits to Irfan for taking the pic!)

Oh! This helicopter we went on was really awesome. Why? We got to sign on it! It was sooo cool to know only the important-er people got to sign there because when the exhibition was opened to public, they barricaded it!hahaha I'm evil...

Perfect spot for me!

Yeehaw!

Here's for you, code name! I remember you telling me about this coworker of yours that said something about you military people should earn your respect, hey, look at this picture! IN HER FACE!lol

peeps at the Information Counter in the registration hall

There was four cafeterias at MIEC, one of them was The Loaf. The pastries they sell are reaaaaally good! But of course, it reflects on the price. So we got lucky one day when we went there after work at about 5pm, they were closing so they wanted to finish the pastries. We bought about four items and got two free!hehehe

Happy with the food!

We were starving! I love that thing we're eating in this photo, don't know what it's called though..

It's this flaky-crispy flour thing with molten chocolate in the middle..YUMMY!!!

Got back to our rooms to change out of our uniforms and go out for dinner!!!

view from my room in the evening. Pretty!

This is what I do every morning before breakfast, evening after work and night before I sleep.

That's where I get WiFi since it can't reach my room. All to text my hot stuff.lol It was sooo awesome because though I was so far away from home, I still got to text and he always makes my day start well and end well. Awwwww...

Dinner that night was pretty shitty. The "nasi lemak" was yucky. It didn't taste like nasi lemak and the fish was so-so. The food came super late, but well, we learn from our mistakes, no?

8th December
I'M FREEEEEEEEEE! not really. Just that my job as a Liaison Officer is doneeeeee! Time for Info Counter and ushering and catching people without tags or with kids(kids weren't allowed until the exhibition was opened to the public), after getting chased by Miss Azlin.lol Hey, I like the Info Counter! Not so much being the baddie who chase people away..

Got this Black Hawk keychain from the Green Barret army shop few doors away from my hotel!

At the exhibition, the US Pavilion only had Seahawk, no Black Hawk.lol But reminded me of him anyway. Gosh! Everything I see everywhere during this LIMA trip reminds me of him like literally. But hey! I was very focused on doing my job well also, okay!

Best lighting outside

We went over again to our favourite signed helicopter so that Gup could place her autograph on it too, but unfortunately, the person-in-charge wasn't there yet.

I'm "tall" enough to not bend!haha

One of my favourite photos..because I think I look fabulous!LOL

One of the many jumping shots which failed miserably. I don't like doing jumping shots, by the way.

Failed jump shot, but I looked nice anyway:P (Photo credits to Vern)

You see the guy on the far left of the picture above? He's a mix of American and Malaysian. Char thought he looked hot the first time we saw him at the jetty and she was going gaga over the fact that he looked a bit caucasian-ish. And he is!

I was like "Hey, are you a mix?" and Gup butt in saying "..or maybe Arabian or something?hahaha" His reply was "*blur*..well, yeah, I'm a mix of American and Malaysian. If American and Malaysian makes Arabian, then yes!" lmao good answer!

The buggy people! Man, I want to drive one..or just sit on one!

Me photobombing! (Photo credits to Charmaine)

Watching some aerial displays

Door to the registration hall!

After work that day, the organisers planned a trip for us to go see the ships at Awana Porto Malai, which was about 30mins away from MIEC. My feet was aching and blistering, I had no mood for it, but dragged myself there anyway.. I wouldn't want to miss the fun, would I?

Some pastries to distract me from my feet! (Photo credits to Charmaine)

WE ARE ON KD JEBAT! (Photo credits to Charmaine)

I didn't climb up there since my feet was killing me..so I helped them to hold their plastic bags and all.

Have no idea what that ball thing is for, but Char forced me to take a pic with it :/ (Photo credits to Charmaine)

With Khairul, the young face.LOL (Photo credits to Charmaine)

Initially during the briefing, I thought Khairul was this stuck up dude that was so full of himself..I still didn't quite like him at work at first, but probably because he's so damn super busy, that's why he looked so stressed and arrogant.heh

But no! He's so funny! Not funny funny, but as you'd know by now that we tend to drag even the quietest people in to our web and turn them into funny monsters. So there you go! We always tease him about how he looked our age when he's 20! He's a volunteer too, but he somehow got to do the office work thing two weeks earlier than us, so he's more of our head than our colleague.lol

Sunset and warships

9th December
The day where all kiasu people come rushing through the doors!haha The exhibition was opened to public on the 9th and 10th. We reach daily at about 7.15am, it'll be so cold in the hall and no one will be there, so we'd go outside for the warmer air and perfect lighting for picture taking!!!

(Photo credits to Fauzi & Nalini)

This is actually one of my favourite photos too! Because we're cool like thatXD (Photo credits to Fauzi & Nalini)

First attempt for a jumping shot before Job and I escaped when they wanted to change jumping spot due to the dark lighting.heh (Photo credits to Fauzi & Nalini)

Oh, remember I mentioned once about me being done as an LO? Yup, since it was opened to public for two days, the registration people needed help with the ticketing, so Char and I were appointed by Miss Azlin to help out!

It was quite hectic, but fun!(Photo credits to Eryn)

It was fun in a way that I got to handle money, which I've never really liked(though I love money) because I'm not so good at maths and tend to get confused and all. But hey! I did awesome because one ticket was RM10 and it was easy to give the change since there isn't any single numbered change:D

Oh, that's not all! I got to interact with all sorts of people. Especially when we're up north of Malaysia, the Malay's accent is different, so sometimes I have to really put my ears near to their mouth when they speak.LOL It's funny that I got to put all three languages- English, Malay and Mandarin into practice, switching automatically one after the other. My brain is goooood.

There were a few Chinese who came to me speaking in some dialect, mostly Cantonese, which I didn't understand since I'm Teochew. But hey! I managed to agak how many tickets they wanted! And if they ask me a question in Cantonese, I'll reply in Mandarin. Smart eh?XD

Later at night after work, the organisers called for a party at a bar nearby our chalet called, Reggae Bar. Not sure if that's the real name, but that's what everyone calls it. Before that, Gup and I made our way to Kuah Town for tax-free chocolates!!!!! While Char went for seafood dinner with her aunt, who was one of the exhibitors from Thales.

We reached the bar at about 10.45pm, where they've started at 8.30pm but they probably left about 3am.lol Yes, it was my first time to a bar and I felt very insecure. Most likely because it was really dark, everywhere I turn, there'll be people smoking shisha and drunk people scares me.

Found the gang eventually and I got my dinner! It was on the house, no, the organisers' house(lmao) so I got two BBQ chickens and one whole huge fish! Yummy!! I didn't have my dinner earlier as we were rushing to Kuah Town, so I was happy I got my food when I was so damn hungry!:D

While eating, Mr. Prem sat among us three and started giving us advice, you know the usual ones older maturer people give.. about our future, career paths, boys. It was really nice to talk to him but I was a bit O.o when he was telling us that we can have boyfriends, we can touch, hug, kiss but not go all the way and all that shizzles. He actually demo-ed on me.LOL The kiss part I moved to Gup though.lmao

But all in all, Mr. Prem is really awesome. He told us that he started out just like us, volunteering for LIMA 1997 at the age of 18. He then furthered his studies in the UK and when he came back, he worked for LIMA. It's so awesome that he loves doing what he does. He's always so laid back and happy doing his job. I doubt there aren't times when he gets stressed up, but that's just part and parcel of a working life, no? But yes, he does love his job like crap and that's really good:)

Too bad I didn't bring my camera, so the few photos are with Izzat and Job, the Dutch.

10th December
Last day of work, also the last day to hang out with this crazy bunch of people! :( Funny thing was, Gup and I got to know many of the funny Malay guys like halfway through the working duration. I mean, we know their faces, but we didn't really talk to them.

But you know, when I have nothing to do at the Info Counter and it's almost end of the day so most of them will drop by to hang around..that's when my true self is unleashed!LOL I don't know most of their names, but there was this dude called Kosai(Real name: Adam) with the long thumb nail and last finger nail, which Gup and I said they're both for picking his nose. Ewwww!

There was Salmi(Real name: Shahmi) who refused to tell us his name or even show us his name tag. Everytime we walk pass him, he'll hide his tag because we had a few attempts to snatch it..the rough people we are.heh

There was also Irfan who helped Char and I take our helicopter photo. I call him the fun guy! Since it's in his name.haha And a super fun, outgoing and friendly guy, Zam, which I call Zam Zam Alakazam.LOL Das was really cool too and Rasyid and L!!! I'll show you L later! His name is super cool!

It was funny because when handling the tickets, it's so noisy so if I need to call my colleague and I don't know their name, they'll tell me their names but I'll end up calling them something that isn't their names.LOL For example, Das became Ras and Syahir became Shakir or Shahril or something like that. But the nice thing was, they'll answer to my call in that busy situation till when we're done with work and hangout, only will they tell me what I called them wasn't their name.LOL

To those I didn't mention names, that's because there's too many of you and I have a problem with remembering your names, but I do know your faces! Basically, they're a bunch of funny people. Funny is awesome. Buggy people rocks too! Namely, Sarah and the guys.

Oh! Shout out to Nalini who reads my blog!XD I won't forget Fauzi too, whom I call Fauziah.haha

Prove of me doing my job!lol (Photo credits to Fauzi)

In the evening after work, it was paycheck time!! Everyone was so exhausted, but happy that our work was done and and excited about getting our money!!

Smile! Our work is doneeeee! Weeee! (Photo credits to Charmaine)

Vern was so sweet! He got us key chains since he thought the next time we meet will be God knows when. No wonder he left the bar even before we reached. So he went to get our key chains and his *ahem ahem*'s gift.heh

Going cuckoo waiting for my moneyh (Photo credits to Fauzi & Nalini)

Get this! Mr. Haswan commented on Facebook "my favourite JB girls" !!!!!! Awwww... (Photo credits to Fauzi & Nalini)

(Photo credits to Fauzi & Nalini)

The one in the middle is Mr. Prem!! and the one in white is our Managing Director. (Photo credits to Fauzi & Nalini)

I tell you, almost everyone in the organisers team excluding the volunteers lah..is super nice and fun and havoc!LOL The first time I saw the MD on the first night we reached Langkawi, I thought he must be another stuck up boss, but NO! He's crazy friendly and funny too! Damn, I feel so cheated because I'm most of the time right about first impressions!

I don't have a photo of Gup's leader, Mr. Fairul, but he has this stylish walk which Gup and I are fascinated of. I don't know how to explain it, but his butt sways when he walks and his arms will be like those stylist, you know..aiya, I can only picture it, but can't explain. Even when he's on the phone rushing here and there, he still remain so composed and stylish.LOL A couple of times when Gup and I walk behind him, we try to imitate his walk, but failed miserably.haha

This happy baby face is Mr. Haswan! The dude in charge of us since day one!

Like, literally day one! He was the one who emailed us, informing about all the updates, handling our paranoid parents, answering our anything-under-the-sky questions..like a week before LIMA, three of us went for shoe shopping and Gup wanted to do her nails. She gave him a call and ask if she could colour her nails, and if so, what colour would be fine for work. I know, it's crazy, he must've been so bengang, but somehow he always give us an answer in any situation at all.

Even when he's so damn busy and stressed up..like you can even see it through his appearance, it's obvious that he's rushing and there's a lot going on in his head, but if we have a question, he'll always give us an answer, a solution or direct us to the person-in-charge, almost never were we left clueless or pushed around to someone else for the answer to our questions. So again, if you're reading this sir, don't kembang know!hahaha

Oh! At the bar, he asked Gup what we were drinking. And when Gup said "It's just Coke, don't worry" and he went "Okay, good good. Stick with that, okay!" hahaha We were the youngest there after all, and the funnest mind you!XD

That's Zam Zam Alakazam!

..and a super blur pic with Rasyid!

It was meant to be our Form6 picture, I don't know why Khairul and the third Izzat is there.LOL

Nalini!:) (Photo credits to Fauzi & Nalini)

I have no idea what's on Arvin's mind *shakes head* lmao (Photo credits to Fauzi & Nalini)

My working partner at the registration hall! This is Eryn, by the way:)

That's the Dutch which has been flocked by the girls since the first day, excluding me, I have my American. Okay, I'll stop now.

Funny people!

Look at the pins Hanis collected! I have only a quarter of what she has!:(

There! That's L! His name on his IC is literally L! And omgosh! Hanis is his girlfriend, I didn't know! Niceee..

Hey, that's very fastXD

Ugh, my messy hair. I got my money anyways!! Yay!

Khairul had this little kitty plush toy hanging on his DSLR. Initially, we thought it was just for nice or maybe it's his favourite thing given by that someone special maybe:P But look!

It's to tilt his camera..to take the pics like the one below! (Photo credits to Khairul)

Young face! (Photo credits to Khairul)

Last dinner together, we went back to the restaurant we went to two nights back, next to the laundry shop we send our clothes to. We liked it there because not only the food was good, but there was a cute guy there that played the guitar and sang for us! This night, Char and Izzat requested a couple of songs too! It was good:)

Steak sandwich!

We had a photo with the guy, but it's with Izzat! Ugh these people can't email me the photos fast!

UPDATE! Got the photo from Vern!

I'll update later when I get some photos, so recheck later, will ya?

Spot me! Spot me! (Photo credits to Khairul)

I felt so Super Junior!LOL Fyi, "LIMA" also means the number five in Malay, hence the five sign:) (Photo credits to Khairul)

Organiser! *proud*

My first job, my first time away from home so far up north, my first time staying up till so late for work, but it was fun and I definitely learnt a lot from this one of a kind experience. And hey! I can name you aerospace and maritime companies now! Time to make me look smarter!haha

Ps: Dang! I didn't get to edit some photos due to the small size when download from Facebook and it gets so pixelated. There you go, my pimples shown to the whole world!
