It was in November when I attended with Charmaine. I've never actually thought I'd attend a makeup workshop as much as I wanted to cz I didn't know where to look for it, but I did!
You might be wondering how we got ourselves into such event/activity... Well, basically one day while Gup, Char and I made a trip to their then newly-opened store, we made a purchase and Benebabe Charmaine informed us about this workshop. The rates were RM50 for one or RM80 for two. So there you have it! We weren't "invited", we had to pay haha
Being punctual or rather, early people, we were welcomed into an empty store besides the few staffs and cosmetics. Good thing there's some refreshments to occupy ourselves with cz it was starting to get a little awkward haha
Jellies, cupcakes, coffee
The other participants were stuck in traffic on their way to Starhill Gallery, so we spent an hour waiting, roaming around the store and exchanging awkward glances with the staffs while they try to look busy (it really was as awkward as it sounds). Knowing KL's traffic, one should know to start your journey at least an hour early, just sayin'.
Not sure if our bored and sleepy faces were obvious cz we were offered a complimentary brow waxing service! That makes for a perfect wake-me-up! hahaha
We both sorta knew they'd offer us something to compensate our time wasted (Business Studies knowledge in practice!), and they did!
Brow waxing isn't new to me as my first time was done at Benefit, Sunway Pyramid. If given the choice, I choose wax over thread any day. Though I'm used to threading, my brows are usually done too thinly..so I don't like doing threading anymore.
Benebabe May marking the start, arch and end of my brows
Me with thick, dark brows haha I always think I look hilariously angry after they fill in my brows before waxing LOL
After waxing, she removed the product and re-filled in my brows for a more natural look :D The brand originates from San Francisco, hence, their signature brows are the archy kind as opposed to the straight, slight arch Korean brows(which is what I've been wanting these days).
Tadahh! Brows clean, shaped and defined
The girls arrived while we were in the midst of our 'beautification' progress, so they had waited a little for us to be done. Then it was time to get down to business!
Demonstration of products on one of the participants was done alongside us copying whatever that guy does lol We were introduced to Benefit products- both skin care and cosmetics. I had a lot of fun using them and it sure felt like a mini pampering session! Having the makeup counter just in front of us...this means playtime!!
Initially I wrote a step-by-step on what we used, but you don't need a whole naggy lot of information. So here's just a list of what we got to try out and slabbed on our faces!
Skincare:
- Remove It Makeup Remover
- Moisture Prep Toning Lotion (love this as a DIY mask too!)
- Triple Performing Facial Emulsion (has SFP15, anti-aging, oil-free)
- It's Potent! Eye Cream (reduce dark circles, increase blood circulation, Vitamin A to hydrate)
Makeup:
- The POREfessional (primer to minimize pores appearance, smooth skin surface, get rid of shine; under/over makeup)
- "That gal" (brightening face primer in PINK! Gives pinkish glow to skin from raspberry extract)- Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow! (my shade of foundation: Champagne)
- Posie Tint (fun fact: Benetint(red version) was first created for pole dancers to tint their nipples ;) ;) hahaa)
- Stay Don't Stray (eye primer)
- Fakeup ("skin care concealer", inner layer to conceal and outer layer to hydrate)
- Gimme Brow
- World Famous Neutrals- Easiest Nudes Ever eyeshadow
- BADgal eyeliner
- They're Real (awesome mascara!)
- Rockateur (pretty rose gold blush)
- High Beam
- Sugarbomb (LOVE the buttery sweet scent of this lipgloss)
Beautification in progres
my unglamourous face lol
It was my first time using higher-end eye shadows and I was rather jakun and went "Woahhh!" in my head :X It's pigmented and glides on smooth! I'm so happy for the Too Faced Chocolate Bar I recently bought, definitely worth the investment.
They're Real mascara in full-size is much easier to use than the one in fun-size! I purchased it prior to this event, so I got to make comparison.
That was the entire makeup products used in the process! I don't usually put that much of products on, mostly because I don't have that many! haha I also tend to be lazy and/or not wanting the feeling of a thick layer on my face, so I only do it when there's special occasions.
This photo does not do the make up justice at all, the eye shadows are completely hidden in my eyelids :'(
Love her brows!
full-on makeup!
After the workshop comes the moment I was dreading- photoshoot. I considered giving it a pass, but I rationalized with myself saying I paid RM40 for the whole package. Any Malaysian would be mad at me for "wasting money" haha And so, I went ahead with it. Awkwardly.
getting my hair done
The hairstylist was friendly and mentioned that my hair has a very good texture to work with :D That made me real happy haha I actually really like my hair- the current length (both then and now), naturally black colour, the softness and all..
However, due to the hair fall problem I had, my hair is not only fine but thin too...which made me unsatisfied. It wouldn't hurt if it's a tiny bit thicker, you know? :P
Got my hair slightly styled
Charmaine got her photos taken first. The photographer made us do very old-school-Chinese-photo-studio poses and it felt so damn funny! Knowing Char, of course she'd make him take a whacky photo of her..which he did, but cringed LOL
choosing the best photo to be printed out
Then it was my turn to let him tell me how to pose because 1)I don't know how to pose and 2)I don't dare to pose...shy lah! hahahaha I'll just do the weirdass poses as asked O.o
Is this pose old-school or what? HAHAHA
you can just tell what was going through my head..."Oh Lord, will this ever end?"
anddddd a fake smile!
It wasn't easy picking one photo to get printed...not cz all were nice and pretty, but more like I either look awkward or not myself. Glasses and me are kinda synonym now, I just think I look better with glasses. Trying to be okay with both though! I'm working on it!
Everyone was given a goodie bag, which was filled with REAL goodies! Not candies and chocolates, but Benefit products in sample size!
POREfessional, perfume in "Under my spell Noelle", Sugarbomb, Stay Flawless and a free underarm waxing voucher!
For RM80 we paid for this workshop, we could "use" RM40 each to purchase a product. Basically, that means the workshop was "free" lah. Cannot combine both vouchers to use one shot though. So Char got herself the Gimme Brow and I got myself the Pocket Pal Benetint + Gloss.
RM75 normal price
I'll have MyTwoCents on Sugarbomb(major love for the scent!) and the Pocket Pal soon!
I really hope there's more workshops and events I can attend with my friends! It was a really fun and much needed pampering-beauty session during that time...I believe putting on makeup can be therapeutic!
