Krabi Trip: Day 5 + 6, Krabi Town

Last blog post on my Krabi trip with Char!

Woke up on the 5th day of the trip and we gotta pack up! Because our flight back to Malaysia was the next day, we figured it's a better idea to spend the last day in Krabi Town where it's much closer to the airport.

Breakfast was 7-Eleven instant meals!

Michelle told me about Taiwan's 7-Eleven, saying there's a variety of food and drinks that took her almost an hour to decide what to eat. Krabi's isn't that crazy but they sure have wayyy more selection than our 7-Eleven stores.

Burgers too!

I was all rambang mata, not knowing what to eat! There's some crab rice, chicken rice, green curry rice...omgggg! Though I must have my breakfasts, I don't eat much..so I settled for sandwich! They even heated it up for us!

Getting her dose of morning  coffee

Don't remember what it was called, but there's some seafood in it. Chocolate milk for breakfast too! 40baht(RM4) spent on breakfast.

Got back to our room, took out our luggage and enjoyed our breakfast on the bench before we checked out. We took our own sweet time cz we thought the van that'd be picking us up would be punctual...but he was early lol The hotel guy quickly carried our luggage for us, we left our keys at the reception table and off we go!

Woohoo! Such a safari truck!

finishing up my breakfast on board

Went to 2 other hotels to pick up guests before heading to the pier for ferry time. Ferry fare is 400baht(RM40) and the journey takes 3 hours from Koh Lanta to Krabi Town jetty.

In the ferry, there's the ferry dude that went around getting customers to book a cab from the jetty to town. I think he charged rather expensive and he couldn't seal a deal with us because....we had no money LOL I can't believe we were seriously out of Baht..so we can't give any down payment to him lol Here's his face. Don't buy from him. There are plenty of cabs at the jetty, don't you worry.

We could sit anywhere we wanted cz the ferry was rather empty. Halfway through the journey, there's a few sampan or longtail boats..I don't know.. that stopped mid-sea and their passengers climbed on board lol I didn't know there's such way of interchanging lolol Definitely the first for me! Good thing our mode of transportation didn't include a longtail boat ride and changing to a ferry in the middle of the sea. I'd be so freaked out O.o

I spent most of the journey napping. I wasn't feeling well, which is why I surprisingly got to nap. I usually can't fall asleep anywhere other than my bed, no matter how sleepy I am.

Woke up mid-nap feeling so stuffy and hot, I felt like puking. I don't think it's seasick..but I felt really warm and lack of oxygen. Hated that feeling! Good thing it went away fast.

Fast forward 3 hours and we arrived at the jetty!

This was when it got frustratingly funny. We were out of Baht and to our horror, there wasn't any money changer at the ferry terminal. There's no chance we're walking to Krabi Town cz it was about 30mins away by car! D:

Tried withdrawing cash from the ATM, but because I didn't activate my card for international usage, no go. Thank God for a really nice cab driver who drove a regular car(not a cab). He asked if we're looking for a cab to which we replied yes and began explaining to him about our problem. He was really nice cz he offered to drive us to the money changer before dropping us off at our guesthouse, for 200baht(RM20).

It was a bit scary at first cz we don't know if we could trust him, but he wasn't a bad hat la. He did drive us to 2 money changers cz the first one was out for lunch :)

Our guesthouse for the night was I-Talay Room & Souvenir. If I'm not wrong, it cost us RM50 per night.

The one with the tiny orange signboard (this pic was taken early morning before our flight back, hence, the closed shutters)

This is the cheapest room of our trip, also the least nicest one la..but it's stay-able. Shared bathroom and no toiletries provided. You either use your own or buy it downstairs at the reception, same goes for toilet paper and towel rentals.

The worst thing about this place is the blanket. It's the size of towel, thickness of a cheap towel LOL It looked like they cut a blanket into 4 pieces to save cost. Other than that, it's an okay place to stay with the WiFi, heater, air-conditioner and friendly receptionist.

Our room was right next to the toilet, which was convenient

Toilets were clean

Checked ourselves in and time for lunch! We asked the receptionist where we could find yummy local food and she said just go wherever that has locals lol Good plan!

Walked around before lunch..it was a crazy hot day, I'm surprised I didn't faint from walking under the scorching hot sun while I'm sick lol

mailed all our postcards

We managed to find a stall around the corner and the food was yummy. We got a bowl of noodles with curry each and a friendly uncle said we must have it with coconut water cz it's really good haha I already love coconut water, plus it was a hot day..I'm all up for coconut water!

Couldn't resist fried chicken too :P I don't remember what the dish is called, but it was yummy!

I didn't keep record of how much my lunch costs, probably around 50baht(RM5) or so. After lunch was more walking...Krabi Town is one heck of a boring place to move in, other than the weekend night market haha

Homo sapiens on traffic lights lol

Char wanted to visit a temple(forgot its name), but we were both wearing shorts..so we walked back to the room for her to change into a long pants.

just surfing the net...

yoga pose lol

While she went into the temple, I went sightseeing elsewhere.

Found myself in a mall..and as I was looking around for cheap footwear(which aren't many), my 90% dying sandals died. It alerted me the hard way- I was walking around with full trust on my sandals and when it snapped, I fell forward and grabbed a lady to balance myself LOL

Funny though, the lady I grabbed by her shoulders didn't realize, but the salesperson of a footwear shop saw what happened hahaha We both laughed as she helped me stabilize myself, and I ended up buying a pair of 150baht(RM15) sandals from her hahaha

ugly, I know...don't judge. they were the cheapest and better looking ones.

Speaking of sandals, I love wearing sandals cz the feeling of the strap around my ankle-heel area makes me feel secure. And I need to get a pair or two before the next semester starts.

Anyway back to the trip, soon we were hungry and decided to have tom yam as our last meal in Thailand. When one says Thailand, first thing that comes to my mind is tom yam..so I was on a hunt for yummy tom yum during this trip but failed to find any that satisfied me. Boo!

As far as I know, we both ordered tom yam, and the mother and son seemed like they completely understood our order, except the type la.

I wanted tom yam kung, while Char wanted another tom yam...but the mom who was the cook, got confused lol I don't know what's so difficult to understand since we had the aid of the menu with pictures.

I wasn't really bothered if she got our tom yam ingredients mixed up, at least it's still tom yam with the soup, right? Wrong!

what's this called?

I don't know what that dish is called, but it's definitely not the tom yam I expected. At first I thought maybe it's tom yam, but the drier version. Took a spoonful and noooope! No taste of tom yam.

I was utterly disappointed with my dinner that evening, not only cz I was sick and already rather mood out, but I didn't get the tom yam I wanted :'( Booooo! That's no tom yam!

Didn't do much after dinner cz there's really nothing around Krabi Town. By far the boring-est place during the trip which made us go back to the room at like 8pm, if I'm not wrong. Shops closed rather early too..so it was like a ghost town by that time.

Woke up early the next day and it's time to go homeeeee! We went to the supermarket nearby before Char went to the temple the previous day and bought MAMA instant noodles, cookies, Lay's potato chips and coffee hehehe Almost no place to stuff our snacks! Good thing can fit...phew!

My breakfast on the left, Char's on the right

Spent our last bahts the previous night on breakfast XD Checked out early and got on the van that'll be driving us to the airport. It costs 175baht(RM17.50) from Krabi Town to the airport, bought from our receptionist.

Arrived at the airport together with other tourists in the van and went straight through customs. Somehow if I'm sick, I get paranoid...like what if they hold me in Thailand cz I'm feverish? I'm penniless and I wanna go homeeeee haha I psycho-ed myself the whole time while queuing up to get my passport stamped, to look as alive as possible and not sickly hahaha

waiting for the plane

Worst thing to happen that day- I ran out of tissues and my nose was dripping :/ They didn't sell tissue at the convenience store at the waiting hall =.=" How convenient. So the whole time I had to suck it up or if there's no way of sucking it up, I wiped using my sleeves hahaha Endured halfway through the flight too, mind you.

We shard a serving of Mee Goreng Mamak! I always hear bad comments on plane food, but this one was yummy!! Can't speak for other food though, cz this was my first on board meal.

tastes better than it looks :P really spicy too

Needless to say, I was happy for the precious serviette that came with the meal LOL Enough to last me the entire journey :D :D

Touchdownnnn! I've never felt so awesome holding a Malaysian passport. At the customs, there was a looooong queue at the 'All Passports' counters, but for 'Malaysian passports only' counters were so empty! It was a breeze hehe

Char and I went our separate ways as she waited for her next flight to JB, while I was to take a bus to TBS to go back to JB. I immediately went to the convenience store to get a huge packet of tissues, panadol and water. Phew! Feels good to be back on homeland :)

Took the Jetbus for RM8 that will take me from LCCT to TBS in an hour. Got my JB bus ticket and went for lunch. What's a sick person to eat? Porridge, of course!

I Love Yoo's porridge with you char kuey and hot soy bean!

Krabi, Thailand is my first time overseas(Singapore doesn't count :P) and it was a really good experience. I wanna travel more cz it's really nice meeting people at different parts of the world. Even if you don't actually make friends, when placing an order for food itself is communication and I like that. Shall read up more on how to not fall sick when on vacations though, it's really a bummer to feel sick and mood out. No time for that!

That's it for my Krabi trip! If you have any questions related to anything Krabi, feel free to ask by dropping a comment below!

    1. Hi, I got my stamps at a tour agency in Ban Saladan. It was 15baht(RM1.50) to send to any countries. The stamps are quite easy to find, even some guesthouses :)
