Ooh My Gas!
Did you first think of farts when you read that? You're forgiven because I did too! haha Actually, it's the name of an ice cream vendor!
Located at Level 1 of Pavilion, KL, this dreamy pastel pink and blue ice cream...shop? cannot be missed! It's not really a shop, it's more of a...ah! KIOSK! This kiosk is just behind the escalator or next to Famous Amos :)
While I was in KL with Sherry a few weeks back, she told me about this nitrogen ice cream in Pavilion, which she saw featured on tv. Having lots of free time after my university admission interview, we said "Why not?" to hunting it down.
Muiz tagged along with us to Bukit Bintang from Empire Shopping Gallery, where Gup and Char was there too.
With no clue what the shop or kiosk's name was, I just asked the Information Counter person if she knew where the nitrogen ice cream place was and she did!
Upon reaching, they told us to come back at 7pm as their ice cream has been sold out and will be restocked by then. We went back at about 7.10pm and there was already a queue. The queue moved pretty quickly, so it was okay. Only thing was the space was very narrow, that all their customers were hanging around, jamming up the place and made the Famous Amos worker kinda grumpy :/
There are a few methods to make ice cream. For instance, the freezer bag(where you put the bag of mixture into a bag filled with ice and rock salt), pot freezer(the one where you keep stirring till it magically becomes ice cream LOL) and the freezer(where you put the mixture into your freezer and wait for it to freeze).
OMG!'s Method
Basically, the method OMG! uses is the liquid nitrogen method. As liquid nitrogen is super cold, it's able to freeze up a mixture into ice cream in just one minute! Also, due to the rapid freezing process, it's free from crystallization, making the ice cream smooooth and fine.
Why's it awesome? Who cares about the freezing method when all you want is ice cream, right? Wrong. At OMG!, you get to customize your very own ice cream!..and because the freezing process is so fast, you can get your very own ice cream within minutes. No idea what I mean by customizing your ice cream? Here are the steps:
Step 1: Pick a base
Step 2: Pick a flavour + colour
Step 3: Pick your toppings
Actually, before Step 1, you should pick your size hahaha It's funny how they named their sizes, which are 'Cutie' for regular and 'Sexy' for large. So, if you want a large cup of ice cream, you say, "Hey, can I get a Sexy?" LOL Anywayyy, after Step 3, there's also another thing for you to do- choose your sugar level.
Cutie size, 1 colour flavour, 1 topping = RM12.90
Sexy size, 1 colour flavour, 1 topping = RM19.90
Additional flavour = RM2, topping = RM1, premium topping = RM2
Ordering timeeee! Sherry and I shared a cutie cup of Red-Macadamia Milk-with-Almond-Flakes-Normal-Sugar-Level ice cream. That was a long name. We chose red because I've never seen red ice cream, plus it'll look so cool! We didn't know how sweet the ice cream would be, so the lady recommended 'normal' for its sugar level, which I think should've been 'high' instead. But it's okay, try and error :)
Muiz got himself a cutie cup of Blue-Mango-with-I-don't-remember-what-topping-Normal-Sugar-Level ice cream. hahaha
I'd like to try Apple Blossom :)
ice creams in-the-making!
you get to watch the freezing process through the glass panel
Our ice creams being scooped into the cup!
"Bing!" goes the device that shows our number and our ice creams are ready for collection!!!! My heart sank a little when I saw the colour of my ice cream. It was supposed to be REDDD, not hot pink :'( Wait, it looks more bright coral pink than hot pink now..but still!! Probably it's because my red colouring got mixed with milk, that's why it became lighter, but in real life, it seriously looks more pink than reddish-orangey! It's still pretty anyway, so okaylah :D

Blue Mango + Red Macadamia Milk
OMG! is a take-away kind of kiosk, so there's no table or chairs for you to savour your ice cream. Conveniently, Pavilion's Food Republic aka the food court is only a few steps away! Not to mention, there's plenty of tables haha
Review: The macadamia milk flavoured ice cream has a rather familiar taste which I can't pinpoint. A good taste, in fact However, the taste wasn't strong enough, it was very light..like just a hint which I can't hold on to :/ Maybe the next time I'll try to up the sugar level and see if the taste improves :) Muiz's mango ice cream was really good! The taste was strong enough, but not too sweet :D Only downside was the colouring that was cray cray haha Our teeth turned blue just after a scoop!
Sherry discovered something fascinating about the ice creams. She mixed both ice creams which made a pretty purple colour. That's not the fascinating part. What is, is that the mixture of both ice cream tastes like...nothing! It became a neutral taste.
Go crazy with your ice cream now!
