I'm back with my second last post of the LIMA series. For those who don't know what LIMA is about, the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace(LIMA) exhibition is held every two years in Langkawi. I was there as a second-time volunteer during the last LIMA '13 in late March.
30th March
Gooooooooood morning! Last day of work, GO GO GO! It feels great to walk the halls of MIEC in the morning, with the super cold air-conditioner blasting in your face, waking you up from sleepy mode. For me, the thought of it being the last day didn't kick in till the end of the day, guess I was just too tired.
Just as the previous day, my duty was to help visitors with their wristbands and be a walking Info Counter at the outer ticketing counters and also check for wristbands and crowd control at the Registration Hall.
Just out from the freezing cold Registration Hall. Mine evaporated fast..failed photo :/
Walking "Info Counter" colleagues
Today, I spent more time outside in the hot Sun as compared to the previous day. I was flipping happy when Mr. Suren signaled us to have lunch. We went by batches, so the public aren't left unattended.
Back in LIMA '11, we handed out mini Mars bars with a note stuck to it to our bosses as a token of appreciation for giving us the opportunity to work with them and for the guidance provided when we needed it. The same thing this year, except it was mini Mars and Snickers bars!! haha We got cracking during lunch time or we won't have the time later in the day.
We prepared one for Auntie Daphne, Char's family friend who works for Thales as she's been super nice since the previous LIMA and we met her again this year! Since her booth will have some leftover refreshments at the end of the day, she'll get us to pick them up to share with our colleagues. Mmmmm! Food is always welcomed!
After lunch, we went to check out the merchandise stall outside the exhibition hall. I got myself a LIMA '13 pewter lapel pin for RM10! Conveniently, the air show was about to start, so we decided to drop by the tarmac for the viewing. It got really hot soon, so I fast-walk back to the hall and waited for the rest haha
The day was over in a blink of an eye! The last, final day of LIMA has ended. And that means, it's group photo...and paycheck timeeeeee! hahaha
As the doors of MIEC closes, the cameras are whipped out from wherever possible XD
with one of the Operations staff, Mr. Haswan Hassim or also known as Mike as there's another Mr. Haswan Hashim in the house lolol
with the Managing Director, Mr. Ahmad Dzuhri
Here's Bash going crazy from answering technical-related questions and chasing companies to pay up their rent haha
...and Khairul being stuck in the past- LIMA' 11 office duties :P
As a closure to this year's LIMA, we all gathered in the main hall for a debriefing session. Mr. Ahmad Dzuhri gave a short speech and got Miss Azlin, who was surprisingly shy(she's a lioness, I'm telling you!..in a good way hahaha) to say a few words.
Vern was also asked to say a few words...okay, maybe more screaming his lungs out than speak, because MD felt that Vern was very stressed up and he tends to bottle everything up. He suggested for Vern to scream at the tarmac, but since that didn't happen, the main hall it is! So, there was some screaming...and some other stuff that got everyone dead silent. It was good that he finally released everything though, no idea how he managed to bottle up all the frustration.
Right after the meeting ended, while everyone proceeded to the Organisers' Office to collect their paychecks, the three of us handed MD's chocolates to him and he was so happy! He mentioned that he still kept our note from LIMA '11 and he swore he took a photo of it..but he couldn't find the photo on his phone as proof haha It's really good to know he appreciates it :)
I don't remember exactly when did we pass the chocolates to Miss Azlin, but she got Char to read the note to her and she was all giddy with joy that she got all shy and gave us a group hug. Awwww... Trust me, it's a little scary to talk to Miss Azlin and you seldom see that side of her. What a breath of fresh air!
Money + merchandises
Each of us got our money, a Tourism Malaysia t-shirt, a LIMA '13 cap and official LIMA '13 pewter lapel pins. I was happy with the money I earned. Makes me wanna work for them even more hahaha
Helping Mr. Haswan with distributing the certificates. That's Muiz up there.
Done is the work and it's time to partayyy! This year wasn't as wild as it was in 2011. It was more of a bonfire-barbecue-chill-out-time. As the three of us and Muiz arrived late, there was barely any food left :( It was still a good time though, since we got to chill by the beach!
with Peto, cool t-shirt there!
Our three-people chill out group grew bigger as Faris Aizat, which I call Teddy(named after Teddy Geiger) and his gang came over to join us. It was really fun! We talked, gossiped and sang songs. I didn't quite expect the night to turn out that way as we'd usually talk and gossip among ourselves and I don't sing lol Being gossipy with guys is something refreshing, knowing they're as girly as a girl can be when it comes to gossips and back stories haha
Our very own Teddy Geiger
There are a few good singers among us who plays the guitar too, like Char, Teddy and Kevin(I think..the guy who serenaded Gup hahaha). And Aizat really sounded like Teddy Geiger, especially when he sang the 'For You I Will' song. It was good, he should start a Youtube channel hahaaaaa
Ended the night with Muiz walking us back to our hotel. Muiz is a nice friend, insisting of walking us back when he thinks his weird friends are on their way to drunkland LOL
And that concludes the final day of LIMA '13! Glad we got to meet Zam Zam Alakazam from LIMA '11 who came all the way to Langkawi to meet his old pals! Made me miss our LIMA '11 peeps :(
The final final FINAL post on LIMA '13 will be us going back to KL! I know LIMA has been long gone, I'll take it as a test of memory and I can refresh some memories for colleagues! XD
